Another long absence between posts...tut! The time just flies by so fast, even though I am not doing anything particularly interesting. I'm sure the days didn't go this fast when I was younger!
I entered a giveaway a little while back on Eliza for a 1950's style bullet bra. Of course I never expected to win one...but I did :o) I chose the apricot one like in the picture. I'm not sure if I would ever wear it though, pointy boobs aren't really me.
I alos made the Cambie dress. I finished it totally today. It took me a week to make and so many hours. I spent two days last weekend trying to make head or tail of how to attach the invisble zipper and lining in one hit like the pattern said...or did it? In desperation I emailed Alice who helped me understand what I was supposed to be doing. Apparently I had totally misunderstood the concept of putting in a lining and an invisible zipper! The dress is made first and the zipper installed. Then the dress is lined...duh!! I know now and am cutting another one out tomorrow. This one should be dead easy now I know what I'm doing.
I was hoping to be showing you photographs of me actually wearing the dress, but due to my sons dire photography skills, it is not to be. I will add a picture of me wearing the dress over the weekend. It fits great and I feel quite chuffed with myself.
The back
I lined the bodice inside with the same fabric as the outside. I didn't have enough to make the whole lining of the bodice in this fabric so I used the lining fabric for the back of the bodice and the skirt.
The wind blew the dress just as I took this photo so it looks a bit billowy. The lining could do with a press actually but I wanted to get the photos done before the weather changed...and change it did, within an hour, we went from this lovely hot sun to pouring rain. We are on a flood alert too along the south coast.
Sorry its only a short post. I should have some more sewing to show you in my next post. I've definitely caught the dressmaking bug.
Oh, it's so beautiful, Sharon! Really, the fabric you chose is lovely, including the lining. The dress looks wonderful, the right way, and inside-out. You did it!
